![]() The series started in 2011 with the short story 'Wool', self-published by Howey using Amazons Kindle Direct Publishing system. Set in a post-apocalyptic future where thousands of people live in an underground silo, the novels chart the lives of some of the residents. He was a fanfic writer initially and if you go back through his website and blogs you can see him very eagerly trying to create a fandom around his work as soon as the first book went out the door. The Silo series is a collection of written works by Hugh Howey. It immediately goes in quite an interesting direction with the central mystery from the start of the second book onwards, so I'd suggest giving the first few chapters a go just in case that piques your interest.Īnd yeah, he was very clearly angling for a TV series from the start. Equally don't think I'll be reading any more of the series though - the mysteries are not mysterious enough for my conspiracy laced mind really. (Of course the show may go a different direction.) I can’t recommend the graphic novel for show watchers until this first season ends. ![]() Overall, I’m a little disappointed that I know what I know plot wise. The TV show so far is much better than the graphic novel. I certainly don't think you'll lose much if you go into the tv series without reading the book, that's for sure. As for comparing it to the books, I’m afraid I’m no help. In a ruined and toxic future, thousands live in a giant silo. The series stars Rebecca Ferguson, who also executive produces the series, and is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on May 5, 2023. The series is based on the Silo series of novels by author Hugh Howey. ![]() The one big gripe I found is that man oh man was the author wanting it to be a TV series! It's structured so much like that media it kind of gets a little predictable. Silo, previously titled Wool, is a science fiction television series created and written by Graham Yost and directed by Morten Tyldum. Adapted from the New York Times best-selling novels by American author Hugh. The remnants of humanity live underground in a vast silo. I was intrigued by the premise, and as soon as the trailers showed up I thought I'd read the first book before jumping in. Its within this grim dark arena that a new doomsday sci-fi series from Apple TV+ titled 'Silo' will air on May 5, 2023. For the first time ever, The Silo Saga Omnibus brings together all of the work in Hugh Howeys ground-breaking, best-selling, acclaimed series, including the individual novels Wool, Shift, and Dust, as well as original essays by the author, and a bonus chapbook of short fiction, Silo Stories.
